Palm Springs fest to get ‘Tattoo’

Palm Springs Int’l ShortFest in the US is to host ‘Tattoo’ short film from Iran.

The 2020 Palm Springs International ShortFest in the US is to receive ‘Tattoo’ short film from Iran.

Farhad Delaram’s 15-min ‘Tattoo’ will be in the competition for the Young Cineastes Award at the 26th edition of the Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs film event.

The film is about a young woman who wants to renew her driver’s license but she is sent to the traffic police center because of a scar on her wrist and her tattoo.

The short film experienced its first international appearance at the 69th Berlin Int’l Film Festival where it bagging Crystal Bear for the Best Short Film.

‘Tattoo’ has also attended a number of international film events and succeeded to grab some awards, including the Best Actress award of the 37th Sulmona International Film Festival in Italy which went to Behdokht Valian, the star of the flick as well as the best short film award at the 8th Persian Film Festival in the Australian city of Sydney in 2019.

 Delaram, the director of the flick has so far made some six short films and documentaries. His short flick ‘Away from Home’ attended last year's edition of the House of Cinema Celebration in Iran.

‘Tattoo’ is not Iran only representative at the festival as Kaveh Mazaheri’s 15-min ‘Funfair’ and Sonia Haddad’s ‘Exam’ will be also attending the event.

The winners of the Palm Spring will be presented with awards and cash prizes worth $25,000 including five Academy Award qualifying awards.

The Palm Springs International ShortFest aims to stay the medium that keeps film markets, filmmakers and viewers connected.

The event will take place in the U.S. city east of Los Angeles in California from June 16 to 22, 2020.
